"i think i'll go to boston...": Address

Why leave for 18 months?

The moment that I really knew I made the right decision to go on a mission, I was sitting in church at a random ward in the middle of nowhere coming back from New Mexico. The congregation started singing the hymn "I Stand All Amazed", a hymn that marvels at the fact that Jesus Christ died and lives for each one of us. At the part that says "Oh it is wonderful", a boy would exclaim that line at the top of his lungs in each verse. As cute and funny as it was, I realized how wonderful it really is to have a knowledge of Jesus Christ and that those who come unto him in faith, repent, are baptized, and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, have a peace and fulness in this life that can't be bought or traded anywhere in the world. I knew that because I was so blessed to have a knowledge of that, I had a duty to share it with anyone I could to show the fulness of love and peace that coming unto Christ offers. THAT'S why I left for 18 months.
